Ensemble in Residence

WELCOME TO OUR FIRST FMC ENSEMBLE IN RESIDENCE

The Halcyon Quartet

The Rector and Director of Music at Holy Sepulchre (St. Sepulchre’s), the Musicians’ Church, and I have selected the Halcyon String Quartet as the first Friends of the Musicians’ Chapel Ensemble in Residence.  The residency, starting in September 2018, last for a year.  It is designed to give an ensemble of the highest calibre the opportunity to perform, record and rehearse in this City of London church throughout the year.  The 2018/19 residency is the first of these opportunities.  The scheme is supported by the Friends of the Musicians’ Chapel, the custodians of the Musicians’ Chapel and the Musicians’ Book of Remembrance.

The Halcyon Quartet was formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 2012 and is “one of the most talented quartets to come out of the Academy in recent years” according to Professor David Strange.  The Quartet made their BBC Radio 3 debut in 2015 and they have since won many prizes.  Among their many engagements in 2018 they will be performing at the Wigmore Hall with the Nash Ensemble.  The members of the quartet are Claudia Fuller, 1st violin;  Leidy Sinclair, 2nd violin;  Nathalie Green-Buckley, viola;  Hee Yeon Cho, cello.

The Friends of the Musicians’ Chapel is delighted to be part of the support given to this very talented quartet and wish the players a very happy and productive year at the Musicians’ Church.  We are greatly looking forward to hearing them and the wonderful repertoire they have at their disposal.
